The Equal Beating Victorian Temperament
Equal Beating Victorian Temperament is a Temperament designed by Mr. William Bremmer, RPT. Mr. Bremmer is a premier piano technician and a frequent Instructor at the Piano Technicians Guild National and Regional Conventions. He has spent decades in teaching and research in piano tuning, and has helped many technicians throughout the world learn new and better ways to tune. Equal Beating Victorian Temperament, or EBVT III, replicates the tuning used in the period of the great piano composers, and by it’s structure, gives each key signature you play in a different “color”. The use of piano temperament during this period is one of the reasons composers wrote pieces with different key changes. Modern equal temperament does as the name suggests, it makes each key signature you play in “equal sounding”. There is no change in color of sound from one key to another. Mr. Bremmer’s ingenious temperament captures a beauty of sound in your piano, and unlike many of the old temperaments, each key signature you play sounds great with no harsh key signatures to avoid. Music played on a piano tuned to this temperament allows you to hear and perform the music of the great piano composers as they would have heard it. It (the EBVT III) also adds a welcome dimension to all music of the 20th Century and beyond.
I highly recommend this temperament, and will gladly tune it for you at your request.
